- Thijs de Groot speaking at 9th Industry Workshop Advanced Alkaline-based Electrolysis (AEL/AEMEL): 8 October 2026
Published: September 16, 2026
The PEACE project memberDr. Thijs de Groot will give a talk at the 9th Industry Workshop Advanced Alkaline-based Electrolysis (AEL/AEMEL), organised by Fraunhofer IFAM in Dresden, Germany, on 8 - 9 October 2026.
Dr. de Groot, from Eindhoven University of Technology, will speak about “Debunking alkaline water electrolysis myths” on Thursday, 8 October at 14:10. His talk builds on his recent contributions exploring some of the persistent assumptions surrounding alkaline water electrolysis and examining them against historical developments, technological evidence and the realities of industrial operation.

The Fraunhofer IFAM workshop brings together experts from industry and academia to discuss current developments and future pathways for alkaline electrolysis (AEL) and anion exchange membrane electrolysis (AEMEL), with sessions covering electrolysis components, stack design and testing, electrolyser operation, and scaling from laboratory to industrial systems.
The workshop can also be joined online. Registration is open until 18 September 2026.
