PEACE Project at FDFC, Montpellier – May 7, 2026

Published: May 5, 2026

The PEACE project will be represented at the 10th International Conference on Fundamentals & Developments of Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers (FDFC 2026) taking place on 5-7 May 2026 in Montpellier, France.

PEACE project team member Saksham Pandey (Sustainable Process Engineering Group - Eindhoven University of Technology) will deliver a presentation entitled: “Bubblolylis: the bubble story of alkaline water electrolyzers”.

The work is co-authored by Arif Kubilay Özdemir and Matheus T. de Groot (Eindhoven University of Technology).

In his presentation, Saksham Pandey will explore bubble behaviour in alkaline water electrolysis using micron scale visualization in an alkaline flow cell under high current densities. He will demonstrate how oxygen and hydrogen bubbles differ in both size and dynamics: oxygen bubbles tend to stick, whereas smaller hydrogen bubbles glide on the electrode surface.

Through polarity and voltage-switch experiments, the study suggests that solutal Marangoni forces play a key role in governing bubble dynamics. These findings provide valuable insights to support the optimisation of electrode design and operational parameters.

Don’t miss Saksham’s presentation:
